The white corpuscles are the scavengers,“devourers”;
they are oozed out of the Astral through the spleen, and are of the same essence as the Astral. They are the sweat-born of
the Chh y. K ma is everywhere in the body. SD3 580.
In which the fiery lives may find a suitable environment
and rapidly germinate, and which in turn are finally destroyed by a higher degree of the same
order of life, when their duty as cosmic scavengers is accomplished. TT1 264.
Prana, the Vital Spark of Life Principle, is the life
stream in all manifestation. It is said "the lowest subdivisions of Prana are the microbes of science". There is a life spark,
a little life, in every atom of molecule of Fire, Air, Earth or Water. These are the fiery lives, the constructors and devourers
of Form. TT2 9.
The sacrifice of deleterious and harmful appetites, the introduction by natural means
of a higher degree of the fiery lives, "the builders" by means of pure ozone and oxygen, which in their turn destroy
the "devourers" all these conduce to the recovery of the victim of his own imprudent self-indulgence. TT1 266.
The victim of exaggerated egotism, inordinate Desire,
jealousy, Hatred, Envy, or violent temper, is truly an object of pity. The activity of these lower elemental forces produce
great changes in the normal blood stream of a nineteenth century man or woman. The latter has outgrown the conditions which
existed in primitive man; conditions which furnished a natural habitat for the said elemental life forces. With the birth
of the soul these conditions were changed, and that which was natural to the primitive man became unnatural to the more highly
developed man.
An increase of activity arouses the hitherto dormant
elemental lives into action and the result is a drying up of the watery element of the blood stream, the serum which largely
predominates in the blood, and which is essential to life. These classes of the fiery lives prey on the white corpuscles also,
and as they are the natural scavengers of the blood as well as the protectors of the red corpuscles, their loss leaves the
latter to the mercy of the destroyers, the germs of disease. TT3 117.
Of all the destructive forces of nature there are no
others that can do the same amount of damage in so short a time as can the devourers, one order of the disintegrators of the
universe. TT 343.
Often it is so well hidden that not even the
victim of its power realizes its dominion until some hint of its existence incites
him to bravely drag it out to the light of his consciousness, by a rigid self-examination; but strangely
enough, the sufferers from the line diseases induced by the "devourers" (one degree of the fiery lives) are generally
the last to perceive the causes back of the generation of those elemental lives, and are, therefore, all the
more difficult to treat successfully. TT1 264.
As the requisite soil can only be created by self-indulgence,
the right conditions for recovery can only be created by sacrifice; in other words, the center, the soil, the color, must
be Purified so that it will no longer furnish sustenance for the tubercular bacilli . no longer furnish a feeding ground for
"the devourers." This is done first by a positive idea of health, secondarily by the renunciation of personal will and
the sacrifice of those habits or appetites of self-indulgence which were the original cause
of the disease; and thirdly, by placing the physical body in conditions where nature's remedial agents will have the
least to contend with. TT1 266.
Its particles are fiery lives which live and have their
being at the expense of every other life that they consume. Therefore they are named the "DEVOURERS."
We must direct our attention at present simply to the
earthly beings and the earth itself. The latter, we are told, is built up for the first Round by the "Devourers" which disintegrate
and differentiate the germs of other lives in the Elements; pretty much, it must be supposed, as in the present stage of the
world, the aerobes do, when, undermining and loosening the chemical structure in an organism, they transform animal matter
and generate substances that vary in their constitutions. SD1 250.
Even in physical infections one may seek the
cause in the unguarded state of the protective net. These processes indicate how important it is to watch the protective net,
and how readily possible it is to disturb these radiations of the spirit. True, when the radiation is saturated with higher
feelings or strivings, the protective net is strengthened by these energies. But blots, noticeable on the aura, must be studied
as indexes of various spiritual ulcers. Therefore, only he who apprehends the whole creativeness of the spirit foresees the
advisability of guarding the protective net. FW3 159.
Each ulcer begins with the smallest decomposition of
tissue. A drop of resin can make healthy the ailing tissue, but for a neglected ulcer not even a pot of resin can be of help.
FW2 240.
Infection takes hold not only because of a predisposition
to certain ailments, but also because of the loss of balance. Smd1 217.
The ability to throw off infection and immunity from
contagious diseases is largely a matter of vitality (perhaps vitality in particular areas of the body where the focus of the
attention and the emphasis of the life force may be found). It can also be based upon the activity of the blood corpuscles.,
which serves to keep the blood stream in good condition. This focus and emphasis is the same in connection with animals,
for it is not the focus of the mind but of the life energy within the physical body. This, when present and positive, protects.
When it is negative and weak, it leaves the physical body (human and animal) open to the dangers of infection. EH 322.
Interactions between bodies should be investigated,
because as the condition of the physical body acts on the condition of the astral body, likewise the astral body reacts on
the physical. A sickly state of the organism is reflected on the astral, and a spiritual indisposition of the astral body
is reflected on the physical. All spiritual experiences have their influence on the astral body as well as on the physical.
But these manifestations must be analyzed with subtlety. Each experience on the astral plane does not leave its impression
immediately on the coarsely healthy body. True, when the subtle body collects around itself all the poisonous fluids which
infect the astral body, then an infection also breaks out in the healthy gross body. In the infected astral body there results
the affirmation of interaction. The astral body easily absorbs all the fluids of the physical body; therefore, each violation
of equilibrium is first reflected on the subtle body. Hence, it is so important for the physician to know the spiritual state
of the patient. During illnesses and the fight against them, one should have in mind the concordance of the bodies and the
indissoluble bond between them. Such sensitive relationship must be acquired on the path to the Fiery World. FW3 292.
If we begin to speak about firespouts, many will altogether
fail to grasp the meaning, and others will think we refer to coarse electrical manifestations. Yet, one should ponder deeply
upon this subtle fiery action. You have just seen how a mere scratch has caused a fiery burning. Such a manifestation is not
from a physical infection. A firespout touched the torn tissue. Similar manifestations can be observed which conform to external
fiery tensions. The torn tissue, with all the nerve outlets, serves as a magnet, as it were, for the fiery waves. Indeed,
those people who possess vigorous heart energy can more strongly attract the waves of tensed Fire. Therefore, in such cases
I recommend water compresses, but no alcoholic preparations. During the tension of Fire alcohol must be avoided, for it concentrates
the fiery waves. Many drunkards could give instructive testimony about the fiery waves that cause such sufferings! Of course,
I am not speaking now about nerve conflagrations, which only a few have observed. Even so, the firespouts must not be forgotten
in such a tense time. FWI 129.
Prayer is a purifier. This definition should not be
understood abstractly. Spiritual health is the primary basis of bodily health. Precisely prayer as a real link with the higher
Source will be the best purifier of the organism against all diseases. Infection appears when the body permits the entrance
of manifested messengers of evil. Each body is predisposed to many diseases, but spiritual strength is on guard to quell such
uprisings. When the spirit can be properly nourished by the higher energies, it also protects the body against dangers. Therefore,
it can be affirmed that prayer is a purifier. Aum 57.
The powerful spirit shields itself against evil sendings,
but somewhere a weak man will receive their infection. Such cosmic damage cannot be estimated. Only the power of the
sounding of Aum can bring harmony amid the discordant vibrations. Aum 28.
And, as a manifestation of infection forms spiritual
and bodily ulcers, likewise does a manifestation of the lunacy of covetousness bring harm to the spirit and the body. On the
Earth we are much concerned about the body; therefore it is necessary to penetrate into the origins of illnesses. A physician
could say to the patient: "You have an attack of cupidity," or "the anemia of self-conceit," or "stones of treachery," or
"a rash of gossip," or "a stroke of hatred." Bro 23.
Write down about psychic infection. It is an old theme,
yet up to now unapplied in life. As before, people fear physical infection even to excess, forgetting the main channel of
all infections. Is it possible to keep on killing, cursing and raging without spatial stratifications resulting? Comm 195.
We do not go to a shop to purchase clothing infected
with smallpox; yet this infection will be only a one-thousandth part of the contagion present. How often have I stated that
the accumulations of thought are far more virulent than poisons! Just as fire deposits a patina upon a vessel, so is the fire
of thought irremovable when it saturates the surface of an object. Among purifiers eucalyptus is useful, for it contains much
fire. All living fire is also useful. Much infection has been destroyed around bonfires. FWI 367.
Crystals of psychic energy melt down substances harmful
for the organism. Through conscious tension one can actually promote this dissolving process, which is of service as a counteracting
factor. Conscious sendings of psychic energy to infected or injured organs can produce a healing effect. Conscious tension
of the will causes spontaneous action of the crystals. Thus, thoughts about psychic energy crystals can bring needed assistance
for the injuries of internal organs. On the path to the Fiery World it is necessary to realize those fiery batteries which
are contained in man. FW3 218.
To many of you, for instance, the World War was a supreme
disaster, an agony to be averted in the future at any cost, a dire and dreadful happening indicative of the wickedness of
man and the incredible blind indifference of God. To us, on the inner side, the World War was in the nature of a major surgical
operation made in an effort to save the patient's life. A violent streptococci germ and infection had menaced the life of
humanity (speaking in symbols) and an operation was made in order to prolong opportunity and save life, not to save the form.
This operation was largely successful. The germ, to be sure, is not eradicated and makes its presence felt in infected areas
in the body of humanity.
Another surgical operation may be necessary, not in
order to destroy and end the present civilization, but in order to dissipate the infection and get rid of the fever. It may
not, however, be needed, for a process of dissipation, distribution and absorption has been going on and may prove effective.
Let us work towards that end. But at the same time, let us never forget that it is the Life, its purpose and its directed
intentional destiny that is of importance; and also that when a form proves inadequate, or too diseased, or too crippled for
the expression of that purpose, it is from the point of view of the Hierarchy - no disaster when that form has to go. Death
is not a disaster to be feared; the work of the Destroyer is not really cruel or undesirable. I say this to you who am myself
upon the Ray of Love and know its meaning. ENA 112.
